It's friday...

did a song just come to mind? I hope not, that would've been awful.

but if so here is another song to get it off your mind:

What says Friday better then a bunch of singing puppets?

okay...probably lots of things... but today it's just singing puppets.

Happy Friday.

four things that make me smile

1) this song:
mmm, yeah. pretty much I love it a lot, and you know I'm a teenage girl so my mind wanders.. anyway love it!

2) My crazy family. I just adore them in every way possible.

3) When people tell me that my smile brightens the room.

4) People who smile at me--leading to me smiling, which leads to number three.

a lesson from Veggie Tales

one day I will post about Choir Tour I promise, I just have been a little busy and haven't got to it... probably tomorrow.

Anyway, yesterday in Seminary we had a wonderful lesson about our Teenage "Boogeyman(s)" : the things that are scaring us most in life or are weighing us down. Mine goes along the line of fear of the future. It's a scary thing.

She then played us this lovely song:
(this cuts out the first bit...oh well.)
Great huh? If you are wondering the full lesson was about "Faith" and it was amazing. Isn't it fantastic to know that our Father in Heaven does care about us and is watching over us? He is greater than everything, He will help us overcome! So I don't need to fear and neither do you because He has a plan for us and even if it seems that we are jumping out into the darkness, if He has asked us to, He will be there to catch us, so just have faith!

beauty and the beast

so remember this post?
well it just so happens that I will be preforming the part of "Egg Lady" these coming weeks.
you should probably come see it.

if you do you will see:
my hair bigger than it has probably ever been, a giant, yellow dress, a hideous beast, a magical rose, etc.... and an all around wonderful cast, pit, and tech crew.

now I know I am a bit bias...(okay maybe really bias).... but believe me this is not a show you want to miss. Pleasant Grove High School does a PHENOMENAL job on all of the productions presented there.
 You will be amazed.
So come! Enjoy a night full of: romance, adventure, enchanted objects, GREAT songs, and good, family fun (: Come "be our guest!" You'll be glad you did.

what sweeter music?

"What sweeter music can we bring
Than a carol, for to sing
The birth of this our heavenly King?
Awake the voice! Awake the string!

Dark and dull night, fly hence away,
And give the honor to this day,
That sees December turned to May.

Why does the chilling winter’s morn
Smile, like a field beset with corn?
Or smell like a meadow newly-shorn,
Thus, on the sudden? Come and see
The cause, why things thus fragrant be:
‘Tis He is born, whose quickening birth
Gives life and luster, public mirth,
To heaven, and the under-earth.

We see him come, and know him ours,
Who, with his sunshine and his showers,
Turns all the patient ground to flowers.

The darling of the world is come,
And fit it is, we find a room
To welcome him. The nobler part
Of all the house here, is the heart.
Which we will give him; and bequeath
This holly, and this ivy wreath,
To do him honour, who’s our King,
And Lord of all this revelling.

What sweeter music can we bring,
Than a carol for to sing
The birth of this our heavenly King?"

Robert Herrick (1591-1674)

Merry Christmas Everyone! I am also so grateful for the greatest gift. Christ and His atonement for us. Isn't it wonderful that He loves us so much? "Greater alove hath no man than this, that a man lay down hisblife for his cfriends." John 15:13

As I have previously stated one of my favorite things about Christmas is Christmas Music. I shared the lyrics to one of my favorites above but listening to it is so much more powerful. (look it up on YouTube now. find a choir that you think have great voices and listen to it. do it now.) But one that I discovered last year in Chamber Choir (that we sing every year) is so powerful. This is last year's Chamber singing  Carol of Joy I hope you enjoy it and that it will remind you more about God's love for each of us and of His gift of His son.

Material things: I got some awesome sweaters (wahoo!) and  Ipod Touch. (I feel so connected now.)

Important things: I got to talk to my wonderful sister who is serving in Donetsk, Ukraine. Actually face time with her. It was great. I laughed, I cried (a lot,) it moved me. I really am so grateful that she is serving the Lord and our fellow-men. She is bringing the gift of the Gospel to those in need. I love her
she is so gorgeous.

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!

Today's 106.5 is no more now it's "Rock 106.5"
AHHHHHH!!!!!!

Part of me died. How am I supposed to enjoy Christmas music after Halloween now?
How am I supposed to listen to TWO radio stations while driving on Sunday's. Most importantly how am I supposed to listen to Show Tunes Saturday Night?!?!?!

That was my favorite thing about driving on Saturdays!!!!

It's gone!
NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Christmas time is here

(yay for "A Charlie Brown Christmas")
What a wonderful time of the year! Christmas used to be my favorite Holiday because of the commercial stuff (which I think it is for most children) but luckily I have fantastic leaders and parents who have helped me gain a testimony of the true meaning of the season.
Giving to those around us, but most importantly: Receiving. Receiving Christ as our Savior and accepting His gift of the Atonement in our lives.
But although I love the meaning of Christmas, I also love the things about it: the lights, the snow, and the carols.
One of my favorite things about being in Choir is that I get to start singing Christmas music in October. However I love it even more when it is December and our songs don't just sound like notes.
I would want to post some of the recordings of us on here just so you could hear how wonderful our songs are, how touching and amazing they are.

Instead I will just tell you.
They are touching and amazing.

This week Chamber Choir had the opportunity  to preform in different venues at Temple Square and I decided there is no better place to sing about/celebrate the Savior's birth. Ever. ...well maybe if we went to Bethlehem  but that's besides the point...

If any of you want to see how we celebrate the season--and you should--our concerts are the 17th (6pm and 8pm) and 18th (7pm) if you desire tickets please let me know ASAP and I will try to get some for you!

and one more thought:

consider the lilies

..." how they grow, they toil not, neither do they spin; and the kingdoms of the world, in all their glory, are not arrayed like one of these."

"If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; ahow much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?"

"For your Father, who is in heaven, knoweth that you have need of all these things."

"Therefore, let the morrow take thought for the things of itself."
(taken from D&C 84 and Luke 12)

Driving home on Sunday I usually zone out of my "Soft Sunday Sounds" but tonight was different. I was struck by the beauty of this song:

Isn't it absolutely stunning how much The Lord cares about us? What a calming thought. No matter how insignificant we might feel, we our loved. Our Heavenly Father does everything for us and will always provide for us. We are His work and His Glory. I truly do "feel my Savior's love."

i'm still looking up

mmmm love? yes.
this song has been on my mind a lot lately
why?

because of a boy, obviously.

what boy?

not telling.
this is the world wide web after all.

any details for y'all?

no way.
my friends are too smart and will figure it out if I do.
*cough*  cassie *cough* melanie

lots of thoughts and concerns have been running constaintly through out my head about this certain young man.
this song comes on the radio right as I think about the situation.
and it won't leave. ever. you'd think I'd hate it but nope.
it relaxes me and reminds me that everything will turn out.

"i'm still looking up"

(oh and just so we're clear,
I'm not sure how much I like this kid.
I just wish things weren't so awkward.
Getting back to the friend stage would be nice.
but, it's complicated.)

my life is made of taylor swift songs

I would like to say "Thanks" to Taylor for making it easier to express my emotions than by just having to say them. Sometimes in the most dramatic phases in my life I feel like my life is a Taylor Swift song. Which one? All of them. Don't most girls though? Yeah... is that a problem?

Is it just me? Maybe I'm crazy but I really do think that most any girl you can talk to can relate in some way to a T. Swift song.

Me? Each song as a special meaning to me and is related to a person in which I know (all different people, at many different times of my life.)

you belong with me: every girl has a guy that they think of in this song... every girl.

stay beautiful- "his eyes are like a jungle, his smile is like a radio..."

enchanted- "my thoughts will echo your name until I see you again..."
(how did she know I was feeling this way about a { insert name of person here }?!?! -most girls in the world)
fifteen- any girl want to go back and warn yourself of the pain you would feel from earlier decisions about boys (or anything in general) I know I wish I could.

mean- I just like this song. really. I can't think of anyone who was rude enough to me ever for this song to be about....

the story of us- I've never been in a relationship with anyone as like the "B" word.. (*boyfriend* oops typed it!) But I have had this feeling with others in my life that this song relates extremely well to.

never getting back together- again I have never, NEVER, had a "Ex" that this song can be for. And when I first heard this song it wasn't my favorite... But with how my life has unfolded these past few weeks--with certain people--this song has really grown on me.

(I like this video more than the one with her in it)

I could name maaaaannnnnny more but I'll leave it at that.
So am I right? Taylor Swift is the story of every teenage girls life. (in some way or another...)

He Lives

I would like to share a few thoughts for Sunday all tied into one thing: He Lives

1) The Living Christ- We read this at EFY this year and it was my favorite part. The absolute truth it holds is amazing. Please read it. It can strengthen any testimony. (it's small so click on it or look it up to read it)

2) This is The Utah Valley Children's Choir--whom I miss dearly-- singing "When Love Came Down To Earth." This song is so powerful, a bit quiet but powerful, if you have time listen to it.

3) Me- I have a strong testimony of my Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ and his love for each of us. And I know He lives. He suffered for the mistakes and sins of all of us ("how many drops of blood were spilled for me?") He died for us and He lives for us. I am so grateful for Him and for His love. He is my best friend.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

you probably think this post is about you...

it's not though. since I don't think anyone who this song is applicable to reads my blog.

so the quality might not be the best... but does it matter?

this might be one of the best songs ever.
why?
because it has many great analogies, it's in my singing range, and if I'm ever frustrated at someone for reasons that are mentioned obviously in the chorus and title--this song comes immediately to mind.

how on Earth would I be able to deal with certain people without a song like this?

walked,and walked,and walked, and walked.....

In the spirit of "Pioneer Day"
and all that Trekking everyone's been up to:

(thanks Kyra for being so creative!)

and on a more spiritual note:

I'm grateful for the pioneers back then who sacrificed to make it to Utah.
I'm also grateful for the pioneers now who sacrifice as well to know the truth.

Happy 24th of July!

Y.O.L.F

you only live forever.

since one of my dear friends passed away this week the thought of "forever" really hit me.
Brian is going to live forever. I'm going to live forever.
I have three videos I'd like to share:

"Nearer My God To Thee"

this wonderful song was running through my head over and over again once I heard of his death.

"His Image in Your Countenance"

"I Know That My Redeemer Lives"

I had to leave the funeral services early but this was the closing hymn.
It is my favorite hymn. It reminds me all the time that He lives.
He lives for me. He lives for everyone.

And I know that my wonderful friend Brian lives, even if I can't see him, I will see him again someday.

I know not everyone who stumbles upon my blog believes the same way I do.
But if you are interested here is a good way to understand a bit more about "forever" and our Heavenly Father's "Plan Of Happiness"

Have a great Monday everyone(:

the power of music

Let's talk music, shall we?
For those who know me, you know I love music.
For those who don't... you know now.

Music is my life.
Really though.
There is never a moment that some song is not in my head.
It can switch my attitude about life within seconds
sad to happy
mad to motivated
it's insane how much music can do!

So I just thought I'd show you what power music does hold on everyone.
(p.s. most of these are show tunes but even for those who don't like them they work really well)

Songs that....

Make Me Laugh:
"Me"-Beauty and the Beast
(he's just so cocky!)
"Make 'Em Laugh"- Singin' In The Rain
"She's In Love" -The Little Mermaid
"I Know It's Today"- Shrek The Musical

Make Me Cry:
"Close Every Door To Me"- Joseph
(sorry for the starting picture.. mom.)
"Home" -Beauty and the Beast

(there were no good stage recordings, but this is just as good!)
Give Me Hope:
"One Day More"- Les Miserables
(I wanted the 10th Anniversary, but oh well)
"Hold On"- Secret Garden
"No One Is Alone"- Into The Woods

Make Me Love, Love:
"Someone Like You"- Jekyll and Hyde
"Beauty and The Beast"- Beauty and the Beast
(I guess no one has good stage recordings of any songs from this)
"Those Magic Changes"- Grease
(this was the best recording I could find...)

Inspire Me:
"Into the Fire"- The Scarlet Pimpernel
"Seize the Day" - Newsies
and last but certainly not least...
"Do You Hear The People Sing"- Les Miserables
oh my. I love it!

Don't you feel like you've just been on an emotional roller coaster?
And with that last song I bet you can now go out and conquer the world!

As you can see I love music! (and show tunes...)
And this will probably be one of my favorite posts for a long time
since all my favorite songs are on it.(:

til next time!
