because I'm a College Student

Bow to me you insignificant Pre-College Children.
I am all knowing, let me tell you what you should know about your first semester.

hehehe
Just kidding, I really don't think you all are insignificant. I think you are amazing.
But seriously.
Here are somethings you may want to know before you start in a few weeks:

  • College Dorms/Apartments are not real apartments they are not as spacious as you wish they were. And they don't come with everything you wish they would.
  • Freshman Wards are awkward. Wonderful relationships will be made I promise but they are awkward none the less, mainly because the guys Freshman year in college are similar to Freshman guys in high school. In high school they can't date yet, in college they are about to leave on Missions so they can't really date either. We still love them though, because they are some of the coolest guys ever.
  • Nutella is a marvelous invention. It will become your best friend towards weeks with tests.
  • Hulu and Netflixs are dangerous things. I've seen so many good people decide that their favorite show is more important than their Homework or class and their grades have died.
  • Go to your Relgion Class/Institute. It is a really good way to get out of the craziness of school, Religion Class is a class however and you are graded but your testimony will grow so much.
  • Buy your fruits and veggies. Do it. You will be so grateful that you spent that extra bit of money on it just because you will end up happier and with more energy.
  • Get some exercise in. And if you don't have time to exercise put weights in your back-pack for when you walk to and from class.
  • BYU Wards/Activities normally consist of Ice Cream. You can say "no" because you will be getting tons.
  • Make lists of what you have/don't have with your roommates beforehand to see what you still need for your apartment.
  • Be outgoing. Be yourself. You pretty much get to start completely over with new people, it's pretty nice.
  • Share rotation with your roommates on who buys the big things (milk, flour, sugar, etc.)
  • Mark your food. Seriously.
  • If you are okay with sharing certain things designate a cupboard that anyone can eat what is in there.
Now for my dear girls who, like me, have a fear of RM's:
  • Talk to guys, be nice and friendly but always look for clues that they are RM's. It is helpful if sometime in your class they say something like, "On my Mission" or. "While I was serving in," dead give away. But if you still don't know asking them where they served on their Mission will get it out of the way really fast.
And for my dear girls who are just interested in guys:
  • Ring check once, then double check it. You don't want to end up flirting with married/engaged men.
Well, yeah, I hope this helps you a little bit as you prepare to head of to the college of your choice. You are all going to rock it this next year.
